UW Bioengineering faculty, staff and students participated in Engineering Discovery days April 25-26. This College of Engineering event hosted nearly 10,000 K-12 students and their families and showcases the UW’s most engaging research and projects.

This event, which celebrated its 99th year in 2014, allows scientists and engineers of all ages to explore UW Engineering research hands-on, and imagine themselves as UW engineers – for a day or two. The event also provides high school students the chance to learn about College of Engineering majors, financial aid and women in science and engineering programs.

UW Bioengineering hosted a lively exhibit booth, which engaged participants in exciting activities including extracting DNA from strawberries, building a prosthetic device, singing to make water dance, simulating microorganism life with a computer program and much more.
