SoundBio, a volunteer-run, nonprofit community lab that launches this year, was recently featured by Geekwire. The lab seeks to ignite Seattle’s “DIYbio” community — a movement uniting amateur and professional scientists to work on creative biology experiments. Members aim to host projects and run educational outreach programs around Washington state.

SoundBio is currently funded via a National Science Foundation (NSF) grant awarded to UW Bioengineering Associate Professor Herbert Sauro to support its science education and outreach efforts. Dr. Sauro also serves on the nonprofit’s board of directors.
