The Department of Bioengineering at the University of Washington invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor with an anticipated start date of September 16, 2025.  The annual service period is nine months.

The base salary range for this position will be $9,424 to $14,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.

We are particularly interested in applicants who will further strengthen research in volumetric visualization, imaging, recording, reporting, and/or synthetic control of biological processes from molecular to organism scales. Areas of interest include but are not limited to: artificial intelligence/machine learning approaches for data visualization or analysis, spatial and dynamic molecular reporters or recorders, methods for biological visualization, high-resolution or rapid/scalable imaging methods, low-cost imaging or visualization technologies, wireless and remote stimulation technologies, molecular and cellular labeling and contrast reagents, machine learning and algorithm development for image segmentation and/or analysis, computational tools for large-data processing and storage, and other technologies that decode and/or encode processes in living systems. Our ultimate goal is to leverage our collective expertise in these areas to address critical challenges in clinical care, health equity, and social transformation.

The successful candidate will be expected to develop an inclusive, equitable, and innovative federally funded research program of national repute, deliver inclusive, innovative, and equitable instruction and mentorship at the undergraduate and graduate level. The candidate should promote the success of students from underrepresented (e.g., racial/ethnic) groups in academia, and contribute to efforts in advancing diversity, equity and inclusion in campus climate and culture of the department, college, and university. They will also be expected to follow and contribute to UW’s strong tradition of collaboration and translation across disciplinary boundaries.

Requirements

The minimum qualifications are a PhD?degree in a relevant field (or foreign equivalent) at the time of hire and a record of published research in Biomedical Engineering. An MD (or foreign equivalent) and record of published research in Biomedical Engineering are also acceptable.
