Together, we are inventing the future of medicine. We empower students and faculty to pursue discoveries, treatments and tools that advance health care. We collaborate across engineering and medicine to translate research into innovative and cost-effective clinical solutions. We believe that through the power of biomedical invention, we can transform lives here in Washington and the world.
Department priorities needing your support
Graduate Fellowship Support Fund
Our most important need is for graduate student support. UW Bioengineering is committed to recruiting the brightest students by offering a competitive package to fund their first full academic year. Your gift will help enhance our ability to attract the best candidates into our program.
Bioengineering Leadership Fund
Most financial support comes with very specific limitations on how it can be spent. This fund is a critical resource for the Chair, allowing the department flexibility to respond to emerging needs and opportunities. Your gift will promote activities related to the recruitment of faculty and special initiatives that extend the breadth of bioengineering research and education into the broader community such as symposiums and professional conferences.
Kelli Jayn Nichols Endowed Scholarship in Bioengineering
This fund was established in honor of retired head of UW BioE Academic Services, Kelli Jayn Nichols. As tuition costs rise, Bioengineering has an increased need for scholarships to offset expenses for deserving students. The scholarship promotes academic excellence by awarding eligible students based on academic merit, research potential and financial need.
Rushmer Endowed Lectureship Fund
This lectureship was created in 1985 to honor Dr. Robert F. Rushmer, founding Director of the Department of Bioengineering. The lecture attracts the foremost authorities in this diverse field as guest speakers; this annual intellectual and social event is the highlight of the year, benefiting an audience of students, alumni, faculty, colleagues in the Seattle community and corporate partners.
