Department priorities needing your support

Bioengineering Excellence Fund: Empowering Futures, Fueling Innovation

Your gift to the Bioengineering Excellence Fund provides the department the flexibility to address emerging needs and seize opportunities, directly impacting the bioengineering community.  Your support:

  • Empowers student success by providing professional development and enhancing soft and professional skills.
  • Builds inclusive communities especially for individuals from historically underrepresented or marginalized identities
  • Facilitates early career connections between students and faculty and employers, offering opportunities such as networking events, experiential learning, and other opportunities that bridge the gap between academia and industry.

Graduate Fellowship Support Fund

Our most important need is for graduate student support. UW Bioengineering is committed to recruiting the brightest students by offering a competitive package to fund their first full academic year. Your gift will help enhance our ability to attract the best candidates into our program.

Kelli Jayn Nichols Endowed Scholarship in Bioengineering

This fund was established in honor of retired head of UW BioE Academic Services, Kelli Jayn Nichols. As tuition costs rise, Bioengineering has an increased need for scholarships to offset expenses for deserving students. The scholarship promotes academic excellence by awarding eligible students based on academic merit, research potential and financial need.

Rushmer Endowed Lectureship Fund

This lectureship was created in 1985 to honor Dr. Robert F. Rushmer, founding Director of the Department of Bioengineering. The lecture attracts the foremost authorities in this diverse field as guest speakers; this annual intellectual and social event is the highlight of the year, benefiting an audience of students, alumni, faculty, colleagues in the Seattle community and corporate partners.
