UW Bioengineering Master of Science student Eric Juang won the poster award at the 22nd European Symposium on Ultrasound Contrast Imaging, which was held January 19-20 in Rotterdam, Netherlands. Eric is co-supervised by Associate Professor Mike Averkiou and Assistant Professor Ying Zheng. The poster, “Engineered 3D microvessels for the study of angiogenesis and sonoporation,” and was co-authored by Ine De Cock, Christina Keravnou, Sara Keller, Madison Gallagher, Ying Zheng and Mike Averkiou. Along with special recognition, Eric received an cash award of $500.

The Symposium highlights new directions of research, early experiments and clinical applications by both established faculty and young investigators. The Symposium also aims to promote interaction between different disciplines, including clinicians (cardiologists, radiologists, neurologists and others), physicists and engineers, biologists and chemists, from both academic and industrial backgrounds.
