On July 12, UW BIOE hosted 25 rising 9th grade students in the UW Making Connections Summer Bridge Program.

The visiting students learned about bioengineering from an introductory activity by faculty followed by a Question/Answer panel with BIOE undergraduates and 4 hands-on activities: simulated surgery (suture tying), prosthetics demo (replacement heart valve, hip implant, breast implant, etc.), ultrasound of muscles and blood vessels, and extraction of strawberry DNA.
