Charles Murry, UW professor of bioengineering, pathology and medicine/cardiology will be honored at the Northwest Association for Biomedical Research (NWABR) Speak up for Research Gala on June 9, 2016. He will receive the Dr. Alvin J. Thompson Award for outstanding research and significant contributions to the advancement of biomedical research.

More details about the event, and how to register to attend, are available here.

Dr. Murry is a pioneering cardiac disease researcher, and has been instrumental in leading UW researchers to develop stem cell engineering techniques for regenerating heart tissue, and developing new methods for treating damage caused by heart attack. Damaged hearts cannot heal themselves, and form scar tissue which eventually leads to cardiac failure. As he engineers ways to fix broken hearts, Dr. Murry brings the nation and world closer to addressing this top public health concern. Learn more about Dr. Charles Murry.
