Marvin Mecwan, a BioE Ph.D. student, and Razieh Khalifehzadeh , a Chemical Engineering Ph.D. student, both from Professor Buddy Ratner’s lab, have received a $500 travel award to attend the 2016 World Biomaterial Congress in Montreal, Canada. The conference will be held May 17-22.
Marvin and Razieh will attend the conference representing UW’s Society for Biomaterials (SFB) Student Chapter. UW’s SFB team was one of six SFB chapters around the U.S. to be selected for Student Chapter Travel Grants.
The World Biomaterials Congress is the largest gathering of biomaterial researchers charting the future of the field. Attendess have the opportunity to network with thousands of professionals from all sectors of the biomaterial industry, share knowledge on the latest emerging discoveries in the field, discuss challenges on challenges facing the industry and collaborate with leaders of various sectors. The 2016 conference is projected to be the largest World Biomaterials Congress to date, with over 1,200 presentations, 2,400 poster presentations and 3,500 abstracts submitted by over 60 countries.
