Eric Seibel, professor of mechanical engineering, adjunct electrical engineering and bioengineering, and Ph.D. program alumnus Ronnie Das lead efforts to develop a prototype credit card-sized microfluidic device for diagnosing pancreatic cancer.
The device can perform the basic steps of processing a biopsy on a miniaturized scale without the need for laboratory analysis. It will potentially help pathologists diagnose this deadly disease more quickly, resulting in improved patient outcomes.
