The small, paper-based device aimed at detecting infectious diseases such as MRSA or influenza currently in development by UW Bioengineering professor Paul Yager and partners General Electric Co. Global Research, Epoch Biosciences Inc. and Seattle Children’s, was featured in a Feb. 7 story in the Puget Sound Business Journal.

UW has received nearly $10 million from the US Department of Defense to continue the project, which aims to bring the tests to low-resource settings at minimal cost – $1 each.
