A collaboration between UW bioengineering faculty and their peers from several institutions has yielded a comprehensive roadmap for enhancing diversity in faculty hiring. This initiative addresses the underrepresentation of certain groups in academia, advocating for inclusivity.
The team, including co-authors Patrick Boyle, UW assistant professor in bioengineering and Kelly Stevens, UW associate professor of bioengineering and of laboratory medicine and pathology, published a hiring toolkit August 14 in Nature Biomedical Engineering. This toolkit equips academic departments with adaptable strategies to promote diversity tailored to specific disciplines.
